This is a classic, tube stereo integrated amp by Stromberg Carlson removed from a console. The amp is a project for restoration as it is about 60 years old. The model of this stereo amp is an ASR-433. The tube line up is four 6BQ5 power tubes, two 7025 RCA preamp tubes, two 6AV6 and two 6U8. All the tubes except the 6BQ5 tubes are branded Stromberg Carlson. The 6BQ5 tubes vary from Mullard to Realistic. The speaker inputs have two wires to set the impedance for each channel and those are marked. The wires marked 16 should be tapped for the impedance (4,8,16) of your speakers. Your speakers are to be tapped on the back of the amp. All the knobs, cover, trim, transformers, etc. Are original as is everthing else except the power tubes and maybe the filter cap. I did not open up the amp but the amp did not hum during testing and may have a newer filter cap. From various dates, the amp is most likely from 1958 or so. I tested the amp and the “A” channel sounded really good. The other “B” channel was slightly distorted but both sides did pass signal. I’m not sure what was wrong with the B channel but it may be a tube or the speakers in the console or something else. That’s the extent of my testing. None of the tubes are tested or guaranteed. I would keep this but I already have a few great sounding Stromberg Carlson tube amps and they were easy rebuilds. Again this is a project for restoration. There are some rusty places and dust although not that bad. Stromberg made great equipment in good old Rochester, New York.
