Jimmy O here, thanks for stopping by to see one of my latest restorations; Here’s an awesome 1958 Magnavox HiFi… All I can say is, this is one cool looking player! Built in 195 8 , with beautiful lines inside and out. T his player now works , sounds and looks simply fantastic! Features a dual speaker system, automatic VM record changer, and 4 tube amplifier! One of the finest features of this player is that the cabinet has been completely recovered to look like it did when it was new. You know, these terrific Tube-Powered record players lost their place in history, due to inexpensive imported solid state electronics, starting back in the 60′s. Not only did we loose the full, warm tube sound, replaced by transistors, but we also lost those beautiful wooden cabinets, covered in various fun, vibrant colors. Well, I’m happy to say I have found vintage style coverings, the same that were used back in the day! Recovering of these cabinets is a lost art, and as you could imagine, takes quite some time to complete. I chose just the right colors for this cabinet’s coverings: A fantastic 19 50′s r ed, black and white… The covering is also waterproof, and is the exact same style that was used back in the day! I also decided on a black and silver speaker grill cloth , along with gold painted tapered legs. Has a brand new cartridge and stylus, so you can play either mono or stereo records. This is an automatic changer, so you can stack records, and they will drop and play in turn, and the unit will shut off after the last record has been played. Comes with 4 speeds for playing 16,33,45, and 78 rpm records. The entire changer has been carefully taken apart, rebuilt, and works great! This beauty also comes with a convenient automatic 45 adapter, which mounts onto the inside of the cabinets lid. This adapter allows you to stack multiple 45′s, and they will all play automatically! Here’s a fun song from 1963… Check out the 45 adapter in action! Magnavox in 45 Speed. This player is powered by a po werful f our tube amplifier, which includes a 12A x7 , 2- black plate 35 C5 outputs , and a 35W4 rectifier. 16 old capacitors and about 20 resistors in the amp have been carefully replaced with compatible new ones for long life and safety. I’m so excited to bring these classic Hi-Fi’s back to life… You’ll have lot’s of fun listening to your LP’s on this quality built Magnavox ; the warm, full, concert like sound this produces just can’t be beat! Even if your not in the market for a restored HiFi, take a look at one of my favorite short film s on design, entitled. A time of fun design, when quality and detail mattered… Let’s g et back to those good days! Thanks for lookin g, and God b less the USA!! There are many vintage record players out there, though it is important when purchasing any vintage electronics, to make sure the dried out or leaking capacitors in the amplifier have been replaced. A vintage record player may still work after 50 years, but the original capacitors will eventually fail, and cause serious damage to the player’s amplifier, and be dangerous to operate.
